Les Mignery’s journey into elite performance began in the small town of Sundance, Wyoming, where he grew up competing in football, basketball, and track. Track quickly became his passion — not just for the competition, but for the discipline, grit, and mental toughness it demanded. That drive carried him to the University of Wyoming, where he walked on to the Division I track team and specialized in the 400 meters. He later earned his degree in Exercise Sports Science, laying the academic foundation for the coaching career he’s known for today.
Les was introduced to the world of ultrarunning in the 1990s through his father, who competed in some of the sport’s earliest ultra‑distance events. What began as crewing for his dad soon became a calling. By 1998, Les was toeing the starting line himself — and he’s been competing in ultras ever since. More than two decades later, he’s still out there every morning, logging miles before most people wake up. For Les, running isn’t a hobby; it’s a lifestyle, a discipline, and a daily practice that keeps him grounded.
His deep love for training extends beyond racing. After the ultra season wraps up each year, Les shifts gears into backcountry hunting and fishing, embracing the mountains at a slower, more intentional pace. Whether he’s climbing, dirt biking, skiing, pack‑goating, or riding horses with his wife and daughter, Les lives the active, outdoor‑driven lifestyle he inspires in his clients.
